The sight training centre is an important facility at the eye specialist’s clinic. Children with a squint, in particular, are examined and treated at the sight training centre. Ideally, all children are examined at the sight training centre once in order to detect any eye conditions and visual weaknesses. Early detection is very important to prevent future damage. The onset of amblyopia (lazy eye), for example as a result of squinting, is treated at the sight training centre by covering one or alternately both eyes with a so-called occlusive patch.

Prism glasses can be used to compensate for squinting. If the squint does not disappear, squint surgery can be performed to improve the position of the affected eye. The sight training centre is also responsible for diagnosis, prevention or treatment of patients of any age indicating movement disturbances of the eye, visual perception disorders, dyslexia or visual disturbances when writing and reading with concentration problems and headaches.
